The Alienist, from Turner Studio T, presents turn of the century Manhattan, and the seedy underside of the immigrant age, as power muscles its way to dominance, others are forced into slavery, in the midst a killer emerges.

The story of the emergence of the world's most powerful city that will stop at nothing to bury its darkest secrets turns into a shocking, graphic, fearless psychological thriller amidst the underbelly of New York City's "Gilded Age."

The Alienist follows Dr. Laszlo Kreizler (Daniel Brühl, Rush), a brilliant and obsessive "Alienist" in the controversial new field of treating mental pathologies, who holds the key to hunting down a never-before-seen ritualistic killer murdering young boys.  

In The Alienist, Luke Evans plays newspaper illustrator John Moore and Dakota Fanning plays Sara Howard, an ambitious secretary determined to become the city's first female police detective, who works directly under a young and ambitious Theodore Roosevelt, played by Brian Geraghty.

Police Commissioner Roosevelt, who is facing a city on the verge of riot as the pedophile boy brothels have become a killing field with boy after boy murdered. A serial killer who mutilate his victims has become the cities most violent outburst as the nearly two million new immigrants from all over the world have made New York City home.

Miss Sloane, played by Douglas Smith and Mistress America played by Matthew Shear  also star along with Marcus and Lucius Isaacson, twin brothers, who help unravel the disturbing mystery.

Stevie, played by Matt Lintz, a tough, young boy employed by Dr. Kreizler as a driver and errand boy becomes the only child to have an encounter with the killer and survive. He is haunted as his friends are killed.

Robert Ray Wisdom plays Cyrus, Kreizler's valet, a man with a dark past who has been reformed by Kreizler; and Q'orianka Kilcher as Mary, Kreizler's mute maid with whom he shares a special unspoken connection.

Shot in Budapest, Hungary, The Alienist is a co-production of Paramount Television and Turner's Studio T. BAFTA-nominee Jakob Verbruggen serves as director and executive producer along with Academy Award® winner Eric Roth (Forrest Gump), Academy Award® nominees Hossein Amini and E. Max Frye, Anonymous Content's Steve Golin and Rosalie Swedlin, along with Chris Symes and Emmy® winner Cary Fukunaga. Serving as co-executive producers on the series are Marshall Persinger and Jamie Payne.

The Alienist  premiered on Monday, Jan. 22 at 9 p.m. across all TNT platforms. It is a limited series. Catch it now in Episode Seven and be prepared for the shocking conclusion as the mystery unravels exposing those who rule the underbelly.
